Western Railway invites applications form eligible candidates for the posts of Apprentice.

Total Posts: 43 Vacancies

Name of the Posts: Apprentice

Age Limit: Candidate must have completed 15 years of age and not have completed 24 years of age as on 30-10-2017.

Application Fee: Candidates can make the payment of Rs. 100/- by postal order/ demand draft payable to Sr DFM- Mumbai Central (WR). SC/ ST/ PH/ Women candidates are exempted from payment of fee.

Educational Qualification: SSC with 50% marks and ITI in Fitter/Machinist/Painter/Carpenter/Welder trades.

About Western Railway: 

Western Railway has started its operation in the year 1951and is headquartered in Church gate, Mumbai in Maharashtra. The Western Railway is one among the total 17 railway zones in the country. The Western Railway came in to existence merging of the erstwhile Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway (BB&CI), with other State Railways such as Saurashtra, Rajputana and Jaipur. The entire part of Gujarat, part of Rajasthan and some portion of Madhya Pradesh are served by Western Railway.

Currently there are six divisions under Western railway such as Mumbai, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Ratlam, Rajkot and Bhavnagar. A major railway station under the zone of Western Railway is Vadodara railway station which is a centre point for Ahmedabad – Mumbai route and the Mumbai – Delhi route. This railway station is one of the busiest in the entire number of railway stations under Indian Railways.

The total kilometres covered by the Western Railways are 6181.46 Kms. out of which4147.37 Kms. are Broad Gauge, 1412.39 Kms. are Metre Gauge and balance 621.70 Kms. are Narrow Gauge. There are many ports in the Western coast of India which are served by Western Railway such as Kandla, Mundra, Pipavav, Navlakhi, Bedi, Rozi, Okha and Bhavnagar.

The credit of starting a first exclusive Ladies Special Train in the world belongs to Western railway and the route is between Church gate and Virar. Western Railway is famous for its very innovative ‘Train Management System’ (TMS) which has been pioneered with state of art quality.Shri G.C. Agrawal is the General Manager of Western Railway.
