Tripura Forest Department
Tripura Forest Department is dealing with the work of maintaining the Forest and Wildlife assets in the Tripura State. The main objective of the Department is to protect against the deterioration of forests resources and enhance their quality. The Tripura Forest Department is controlled by Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Government of India.
To achieve the aim the spheres of the routines which includes promotion, coordination and implementation of the Forest in agreement with the policy guidance by the Ministry of Forest. The other objectives are to take care of ecological restoration and to restore the degraded forest land. These are backed personally by a set of regulatory measured and legislative which is aimed at the sustainable use of these resources for the benefits of the people.
The geographical area of the Tripura state is surrounded on the 3 sides by a deltaic basin of Bangladesh. The state forests can defined as mainly tropical evergreen, moist deciduous and semi evergreen. Some of the area in forest is covered with bamboo brakes which essentially forms a sub-climax which results from changing cultivation from time immemorial. From 1st April 2015 for the advancement in management of forest and wildlife the state is divided into eight forest district which are comparable with the civil districts and is also seen that each district is sub divided into Sub-divisional Forests offices. Sub-division are also divided which are in ranges and ranges into beats. The lowest administration unit of the forest is beat which is headed by a Forester.
